Thank goodness for Yoda. He could have started a personal coaching success story for entrepreneurs, just by getting folks to “go for it”. But Yoda did have to put up with some whining. Luke actually pouts like a toddler in this scene.
In this excerpt from Throw Yourself Down the Mountain, Mantra #6 of Mountain Mantras, I talk about my own kids’ reaction to this scene.
Alexander: “Luke thinks Yoda is crazy.” (But we all know he is so wise).
“Luke is a whiner,” added Elena. “Look at how he rolls his eyes when Yoda asks him to do something hard. You get mad at me if I roll my eyes!”
They are both right. Luke was not focusing on the present moment, and he believed that the exercise Yoda was asking him to do was impossible; therefore, it was. He needed to commit to completing his task fully instead of second-guessing himself or thinking his 800-year-old mentor was senile.
Can’t wait for the opening of Star Wars this week!
Perhaps a great intention for the year 2016 is to be more present- and have more faith in what you do. Your thoughts?
