Those of you that have heard me speak to groups about nutrition know that I’m not about forbidding foods. No way. But I was asked by Wayne of the “Wayne and Jayne Show” on EZ Rock show broadcast from BC Canada to provide some advice on children’s nutrition around the holidays. We agreed to to a short segment called “Five Foods to Avoid around the Holidays”.
But what does this have to do with increasing your coolness factor with your kids? Read on for my story of yesterday morning:
It started over breakfast when I went to check my email to see if I would be interviewed that morning. I said out loud as I read my email: “Cool! Wayne wants me to be on his show!”. My kids overheard this, and they got it into their heads that Mom was going to be on Wayne’s World.
Coolness factor: Rising.
Then I was interviewed from my office, and we had the radio station streaming live from a computer (on low volume). I came back into the kitchen after my interview and jacked up the volume. Who was playing right after my interview? Imagine Dragons.
“Mom, you were on the radio right before IMAGINE DRAGONS!?”
Coolness factor: Rising even more. I’m officially a cool mom. (For now).
And here’s the tip. Don’t correct your kids if they assume you are cooler than you really are. I was NOT on Wayne’s World and, as for Imagine Dragons, I got really lucky with the DJ’s taste in music in choosing that song right after my interview.
I have to say, Wayne and Jayne are pretty cool, too. Here’s the segment:
If you are fired up to listen to Imagine Dragons, my son Alexander made this video that always makes me ache for good times on the mountain. Its really my kids that are the cool dudes in my household.
